# Drone Survey Company > An Exeter drone survey company: who flies, what is registered and insured, how a job runs, what the report holds, and how to compare three quotes fairly. Someone choosing between drone survey firms, usually for a commercial or managed building, who wants to see the registrations, the insurance, the aircraft and the way a job actually runs before they pick one. Most drone firms look identical on a quote. What separates them is what is registered, what the insurance actually covers, who turns up on the day and what you are holding a week later. All of that is on this site. ## Services - [Commercial Drone Survey](https://drone-survey-company.co.uk/services/commercial-drone-survey): Roofs, elevations, plant and hard to reach structures on commercial and managed buildings, with the paperwork a building manager needs on file. - [Roof and Building Survey](https://drone-survey-company.co.uk/services/roof-and-building-survey): Houses, small blocks and older buildings looked at properly from the air, with a report a roofer or a surveyor can work from. - [Thermal and Moisture Survey](https://drone-survey-company.co.uk/services/thermal-and-moisture-survey): Radiometric thermal imaging from the air, read against the conditions on the day, for heat loss, trapped moisture and hard to trace damp. ## Key pages - [How to compare](https://drone-survey-company.co.uk/how-to-compare) ## Areas covered - [Exeter, Devon](https://drone-survey-company.co.uk/areas/exeter): The base is in Exeter, so a city job is a short run rather than a planned trip, and the whole of the operator paperwork is available before the visit. - [Topsham, Devon](https://drone-survey-company.co.uk/areas/topsham): About fifteen minutes down the estuary road from Exeter, with a listed historic core where a survey from the air puts nothing against the fabric. - [Exmouth, Devon](https://drone-survey-company.co.uk/areas/exmouth): Half an hour from Exeter on one of the most wind and salt exposed fronts in Devon, where the flight window matters far more than the diary does. - [Teignmouth, Devon](https://drone-survey-company.co.uk/areas/teignmouth): Around half an hour from Exeter, on a front that takes easterly gales and catches out roof details built only for south westerly weather. - [Crediton, Devon](https://drone-survey-company.co.uk/areas/crediton): Twenty minutes north west of Exeter on the A377, in farming country where the survey is as likely to be a barn, a thatch ridge or a farmhouse as a house roof. - [Cullompton, Devon](https://drone-survey-company.co.uk/areas/cullompton): Twenty minutes up the M5 and straight off junction 28, which makes it one of the quickest towns here to reach and the easiest to fit in at short notice. - [Tiverton, Devon](https://drone-survey-company.co.uk/areas/tiverton): Twenty five minutes north of Exeter, a steep town where many roofs sit above the neighbouring roofline and take more wind than the map suggests. - [Wellington, Somerset](https://drone-survey-company.co.uk/areas/wellington): About forty minutes north on the M5, at the foot of the Blackdown escarpment, where wind acceleration over the town is a live factor for a roof. - [Taunton, Somerset](https://drone-survey-company.co.uk/areas/taunton): Around forty five minutes up the M5, a county town with heavy commercial stock and the most straightforward flying on the northern corridor. - [Bridgwater, Somerset](https://drone-survey-company.co.uk/areas/bridgwater): An hour up the M5, a low lying industrial town where wind crosses the Levels unbroken and a visit is a planned day rather than a call out. - [Honiton, Devon](https://drone-survey-company.co.uk/areas/honiton): Twenty five minutes east of Exeter on the A30, a long linear Georgian town where sitting winter fog keeps roofs damp and shapes when a survey is worth flying. - [Axminster, Devon](https://drone-survey-company.co.uk/areas/axminster): Thirty five minutes east of Exeter near the Dorset border, a hilltop town open to wind from every quarter, hard on exposed ridge and verge details. - [Chard, Somerset](https://drone-survey-company.co.uk/areas/chard): Around forty five minutes out and the highest town in Somerset, exposed on a ridge and holding frost longer than the lowland either side of it. - [Yeovil, Somerset](https://drone-survey-company.co.uk/areas/yeovil): About an hour east of Exeter, a manufacturing town with large industrial roofs and some of the most reliable flying weather on this whole list. - [Newton Abbot, Devon](https://drone-survey-company.co.uk/areas/newton-abbot): Twenty five minutes south of Exeter on the A380, a market town with big trading estates and a damp floodplain that shows on every shaded slope. - [Torquay, Devon](https://drone-survey-company.co.uk/areas/torquay): Thirty five minutes from Exeter into Torbay, where tall Victorian hotel and villa roofscapes are among the hardest in Devon to see from below. - [Totnes, Devon](https://drone-survey-company.co.uk/areas/totnes): Thirty five minutes from Exeter off the A38, a steep medieval hill town where tightly packed historic roofs hide valleys and abutments no ladder can reach. - [Ivybridge, Devon](https://drone-survey-company.co.uk/areas/ivybridge): Forty minutes down the A38 at the southern edge of Dartmoor, where wind funnels down the Erme valley and fixed roof details matter more than usual. - [Plymouth, Devon](https://drone-survey-company.co.uk/areas/plymouth): Just under an hour on the A38, a naval city of flat roofed blocks and steep limestone ridges, with airspace checked before any date is agreed. - [Okehampton, Devon](https://drone-survey-company.co.uk/areas/okehampton): Half an hour west of Exeter on the A30, at the foot of the high moor, and the town on this list where weather cancels more flights than anywhere else. - [Tavistock, Devon](https://drone-survey-company.co.uk/areas/tavistock): Fifty minutes from Exeter round the top of Dartmoor, a Victorian stone town on steep sites where tall chimney stacks and wind loading are a standing concern. - [Launceston, Cornwall](https://drone-survey-company.co.uk/areas/launceston): Just under an hour west on the A30 over the Cornish border, a high hilltop town where slate hanging tells you what the weather does here. - [Barnstaple, Devon](https://drone-survey-company.co.uk/areas/barnstaple): An hour north of Exeter on the A361, where Atlantic weather comes up the Taw estuary and prolonged wetting is the main agent of decay. - [Bideford, Devon](https://drone-survey-company.co.uk/areas/bideford): An hour and ten from Exeter on the Torridge, a steep former port where scaffold access up the old town is difficult enough to change the sums. - [Ilfracombe, Devon](https://drone-survey-company.co.uk/areas/ilfracombe): The furthest town covered, an hour and a quarter out, a north coast harbour town of tall Victorian terraces on very steep ground. ## What is on the record - CAA registered: Registered with the Civil Aviation Authority as an operator, with an Operator ID and a Flyer ID held. Ask for the numbers and you will get them before the visit. - A2 Certificate of Competency: The pilot holds an A2 CofC, the certificate that allows flying closer to uninvolved people than the default. There is no GVC, and this site says so rather than leaving you to guess. - Insured with Coverdrone: Commercial operations are insured with Coverdrone. If your site or your managing agent needs a certificate on file, it goes over with the quote rather than after the flight. - Two aircraft, one pilot: A DJI Mavic 4 Pro with a 100 megapixel Hasselblad camera for detail, and a DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise Advanced with a 640 by 512 radiometric thermal camera. Sam Hembury flies both himself. ## Contact - Phone: 07576 579750 - Email: info@exeterdronesurveys.co.uk - Enquiry form: https://drone-survey-company.co.uk/contact - Based in Exeter, covering Devon and the South West ## Optional - [Full text version](https://drone-survey-company.co.uk/llms-full.txt): every service, town and question on this site as markdown. - [Sitemap](https://drone-survey-company.co.uk/sitemap.xml) - [Privacy](https://drone-survey-company.co.uk/privacy) - [Terms](https://drone-survey-company.co.uk/terms)
